Taking the first small step!

While doing some research on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) decided by the UN for environmental and social development of Earth in a sustainable manner, I came across various comments from people that Government is not doing anything for this or that corporates have to do something to reduce plastic production. So, this is a common human mentality of blaming others for your issues. I also agree that for major changes in this domain, support from government and corporates is necessary but its not the only way changes can be brought in place. We, the people can act and start bringing minor changes in this domain. We can lead the moment and make these governments and corporates realize the importance of environment and social development along with economic development. If citizens of a particular country are aware and start working for this cause, governments ought to make policies that support them, and corporates need to abide to those policies.

We know "Rome was not built in a day" and neither Earth was destroyed in a day, since years we are exploiting our natural resources including animals, land, labor, water, and everything that a human can think of. Hence, solving these issues will also take years. But with the right measures, we can definitely make this planet more beautiful and leave it as a better place for the generations to come. Here, giving an example of how people went ahead without government support and brought a change that everybody noticed and hence pushed the government of that city to focus on the issue. In Banglore, a citizen-driven voluntary group is working for saving the lake ecosystem of Rachenahalli lake. The lake was once famous for its beauty and communities living around it enjoyed clean air because of the lake, but the cost of development is high and because of concrete jungles in and around Bangalore, the lake and its ecosystem degraded. People living around started seeing the changes like plants in the lake dying and fishes disappearing, but authorities ignored their concerns so, they decided to take matters in their hands. People started by cleaning the thrash around and seeing such measures, government authorities collaborated with them forming a trust to not only save this one lake but to take up a project of preserving all lakes of Banglore. This is just one example of how we, as common citizens have to start working, start caring for environment, for our biodiversity and once we do, governments and companies will follow.

Hence, get up every day and do something that is not for yourself, but for the world. Together we can make a positive impact on this world.
